Three months from now, the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship will once again be on the line as reigning title-holder Jon Jones is set to defend it against undefeated challenger Dominick Reyes on February 8 in Houston.
Toyota Center will witness the 13th title defense of Jones as he tries to keep his streak alive and hand the first loss of Dominick’s professional career. This detailed announcement was confirmed by UFC President Dana White to ESPN’s Brett Okamoto earlier today.
Before the official announcement from White, Jon Jones had a meeting with his team to determine the rightful opponent where he named two opponents – Corey Anderson and Dominick Reyes but pointed out that Reyes was the ‘more dangerous fighter’ however he vowed to ‘beat his ass next’.
‘Bones’ is coming off a successful two-fight title defense this year against Anthony Smith and Thiago Silva respectively at UFC 235 and UFC 239 via decision wins while Dominick Reyes continued his hot-streak when he knocked out former Middleweight Champion Chris Weidman last month and remained spotless.
