Chinese superstar Zhang Weili has successfully defended his UFC Women’s Strawweight Title over Poland’s Joana Jedrzejczyk via split decision in the co-main event of UFC 248 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The match was dubbed as the greatest women’s mixed martial arts match after the two put on a show to everyone ahead of the main event.
It was a back-and-forth bout that could have gone either way but it was Zhang’s supreme striking which ultimately retained her championship belt. The judges score it as 48-47, 47-48 and 48-47.
The damage meanwhile was very evident in the challenger’s face as Joana suffered a significant swelling on her forehead after the match.
Both warriors also received a standing ovation inside the arena after the final bell sounded. They surely earned more fans and respect from everyone. A rematch might also be on the works.
