The hype and anticipation for the match up between Israel Adesanya and Yoel Romero was quickly turned into a disappointment as the two displayed an underwhelming performance in the main event of UFC 248 on Saturday night at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
This main event though didn’t top the co-main event fight between Zhang Weili and Joana Jedrzejczyk which was filled with explosive striking from both warriors.
Although Adesanya defended his belt well via unanimous decision (48-47, 48-47 and 49-46), everyone was not treated with explosive action during the match.
Most of the bout, the two competitors have been sizing up each other in quest to find the perfect strike that would finish the fight prematurely, but unfortunately it never came inside the 5-round championship contest.
Mutual respect was shown by both fighters after the match and both have cleared the air among them.
During the post fight interview with Joe Rogan, the ‘Last Stylebender’ has called out his next challenger in the form of undefeated Brazilian Paulo Costa who is likely the next opponent for him.
