In a rematch of their epic 2018 encounter, defending WBC World Heavyweight Champion Deontay Wilder replicated his win over Luis Ortiz and knocked out the Cuban fighter in the 7th round on Saturday night inside the MGM Grand, Las Vegas.

It was Wilder’s 42nd career victory and 41st knockout finish which officially arranged another rematch with Lineal World Heavyweight title-holder Tyson Fury on February 2020.

Before Deontay unleashed the powerful right hand against Ortiz, he had slow start in the match and found himself behind in the judges’ scorecards but it turns out that it was all part of the game plan as Wilder slowly found his rhythm and eventually uncorked the thunderous blow to end the fight.

Despite the brutal finish, Wilder has nothing but praise for Ortiz for his overall skills as he stated in the post fight interview.

Ortiz is one of the best in the world. You have to give him that. I want to thank his family for allowing Ortiz to come into the ring and share his energy with me. I hope one of the other top heavyweights gives this man another opportunity.

Wilder gave praised to Ortiz

Next for Deontay Wilder is the highly anticipated rematch with the “Gypsy King” Tyson Fury on February next year while Ortiz awaits for another top Heavyweight who is interested to fight him.
