Kawhi Leonard finished with a game high 36 points with 11 rebounds and 2 assists to propel the Canada-based team to a 105-92 victory over the two-time reigning champions Golden State Warriors. He was complimented by Serge Ibaka’s 20 points and Pascal Siakam’s 19 points.
Toronto used an excellent 3rd quarter to create a huge 12- point lead heading into the payoff period and outscored Golden State 37-21 for a 79-67 lead built around 5 long distance bombs and 55% percent field goal shooting with Kawhi Leonard who scorched their foes by producing 18 points in the said quarter.
In a relatively slow and sloppy start in the game highlighted by multiple turnovers, both teams fired blanked in their first 4 attempts and went scoreless inside two minutes before finally cracking a basket.
Kawhi Leonard single-handedly kept his team in the opening quarter by scoring 14 of Toronto’s 17 point output on 5 of 8 shooting (2-4 beyond the arc). The other two Raptors player who scored beside him are Kyle Lowry (2 points) and Pascal Siakam (1 point via free throw).
Despite the scoring drought from Toronto, they were only down by six after the first quarter, 23-17. Klay Thompson who missed Game 3 scored 5 points which was complimented by Stephen Curry’s 4 markers.
During the half time break, the Eastern Conference champions have cut the deficit to just 4, outscoring the Western Conference champions by 2 points in the second quarter for a 46-42 Warriors lead, thanks mainly to Serge Ibaka and Kyle Lowry’s 8 points apiece and Pascal Siakam’s 6 points. Kawhi Leonard meanwhile haven’t added to his total as he missed his four field goal attempts in the second quarter.
On the other side, Klay Thompson high scored for the Warriors with 28 points (with 3 rebounds and 2 assists) and Stephen Curry who produced 27 points on top of 6 assists and 4 boards. Game 5 will be on Tuesday inside the Scotiabank Arena.
