The number one seeded team and holder of the best record in the NBA last season Milwaukee Bucks has started to make their own move in the free agency.
Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Wednesday that Tony Snell is being traded to the Detroit Pistons including the team’s 30th pick on draft night for John Leuer which ironically they swept in the first round of the playoffs.
Snell was acquired by the Bucks in October 2016 via a trade from the Chicago Bulls for Micheal Carter-Williams, and since then was a staple in the team rotation. In his 3 year tenure with Milwaukee, he averaged 7.2 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.1 assists. He saw an improvement in statistical numbers compare his time with Chicago where he collected 5.2 points, 2.3 rebounds and 0.9 assists.
This move prepares the Milwaukee Bucks in retaining the core players they had from the previous season and continue to contend for a title where they were just 2 games away from reaching the NBA Finals. They will unload $4 Million in salary which could potentially help in re-signing Khris Middleton and Brook Lopez.
As for Detroit, they will need to receive Snell’s $12 Million salary for 2020-2021. However they can use him as a scoring option and a locked down wing defender plus pick another rookie in the 30th selection tomorrow.
