After dropping their first ever Game 1 loss in the NBA Finals under the guidance Coach Steve Kerr in the previous game, the defending champions Golden State Warriors are has leveled their series against the Eastern Conference champions Toronto Raptors via 109-104 victory on the road.
The splash brother along side Draymond Green and Demarcus Cousins helped the team grab the win. Klay Thompson high-scored for the team with 25 points on top of 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Stephen Curry continued his momentum by producing a stat line of 23 points, 4 assists and 3 rebounds. Draymond Green had a spectacular all around game and was an assist shy from another triple-double and finished with 17 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists.
Demarcus Cousins on his first ever career start in the finals had 11 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. The Warriors bench also came alive in the form of Quinn Cook who chipped in 9 points, all from 3-point territory.
It was a resounding bounce back game after dropping the opening game this year. Golden State was playing catch up for the most part of the first half and was outscored by Toronto in the first and second quarter, 59-54. But as always, they fought their way back in the second half particularly with the classic third quarter barrage to take the game into their own hands.
An 18-0 scoring run was seen at the beginning of the quarter and reciprocate the situation for Toronto who was the one playing catch up in the final 24 minutes. However they never regained the lead and the Warriors have put the game in the bag heading back to Oakland for games 3 and 4 (which will be played on Wednesday and Friday respectively).
Toronto was paced by Kawhi Leonard with 34 points, 14 rebounds and 3 assists in the losing effort.
